KLIDI Launches Nationwide Portal for Local Government Permit Information

[By Hyun-tae Joo, Financial News Correspondent] The Korea Local Information Development Institute (KLIDI) has announced the launch of a comprehensive public data portal. This new platform integrates local administrative permit information and convenience data from local governments across the country.
This move consolidates information previously split between the ‘Local Administrative Permit Data Open Portal’ and the ‘Public Data Portal’ into a single, user-friendly interface.
Users can now easily access and utilize nationwide permit information and convenience data across various industries through this unified public data portal.
The integration encompasses 195 categories of local administrative permit information, including restaurants and e-commerce businesses, along with 14 types of convenience data such as civil defense shelters, CCTV locations, and unmanned civil service kiosks. In total, 209 data categories are now available.
A key improvement in this integration is the significant expansion of data accessibility through Application Programming Interfaces (APIs) for developers.
Previously, only 197 data types were available via API (195 permit types and 2 convenience data types). Now, all 209 data categories can be accessed through API formats.
This enhancement facilitates easier analysis of industry distribution and trends, potentially boosting data-driven service development and research applications.
The inclusion of historical data enables time-series analysis, allowing users to track industry growth trends and regional change patterns over time.
To ensure a smooth transition for current users, the original ‘Local Administrative Permit Data Open Portal’ will continue to operate in parallel until April 15.
Deok-soo Park, Director of KLIDI, emphasized the significance of this integration, stating, “This consolidation of local administrative permit data marks a crucial step in making public data more accessible. We are committed to continually improving data quality management and platform stability to support AI applications and high-value data utilization.”
