How Kimhae Is Spreading Warmth: 12 Billion Won for Social Welfare During Seollal

On January 10th, Mayor Hong Tae-yong of Gimhae visited Hanmaum Academy, a residential facility for individuals with disabilities in Jangyu 2-dong. He listened to the concerns of residents and staff, offered words of encouragement, and posed for a commemorative photograph. /Gimhae City Hall

The support will benefit 20,041 households receiving basic living subsidies, over 4,000 families of national veterans and independence activists, and 1,400 individuals from 40 social welfare facilities. The total support package amounts to approximately 1.235 billion KRW (roughly 926,250 USD).

Mayor Hong visited Hanmaum Academy to hear firsthand the concerns of residents and staff, and to offer encouragement to those involved.

Deputy Mayor Shin Dae-ho, along with senior officials and local leaders, will continue these visits to social welfare facilities, families of independence activists, and low-income households through January 13th.

Mayor Hong stated, “We hope our marginalized neighbors can feel a sense of warmth during the Lunar New Year celebrations.” He added, “We will redouble our efforts to ensure no one falls through the cracks in our welfare system.”
