A fire erupted at a waste wood processing plant in Shinbuk-myeon, Pocheon, at approximately 5:11 AM on the 10th. Firefighters managed to bring the major blaze under control after more than 12 hours of intense efforts.

The inferno engulfed nearly 1,000 tons of waste wood within the facility and spread to the adjacent hillsides.

Fire authorities swiftly deployed personnel and equipment, successfully extinguishing the wildfire in roughly three hours.

The main fire at the wood processing plant was finally contained at 5:25 PM, 12 hours and 14 minutes after it initially broke out.

However, due to the abundance of combustible materials inside the facility, officials expect it may take additional time to fully extinguish all remaining hotspots.

Fortunately, no casualties were reported as the factory was unoccupied at the time of the incident.

Law enforcement and fire officials plan to conduct a thorough investigation into the cause of the fire once the extinguishing efforts are complete.
