Beginning February 11, travelers will be able to board SRT (Suseo High-Speed Rail) trains at Seoul Station and KTX trains at Suseo Station.

The Ministry of Land, Infrastructure and Transport, Korea Railroad Corporation (KORAIL), and SR announced on February 10 that ticket reservations for the cross-operational pilot program, marking the beginning of integrated high-speed train operations, will commence on February 11.

This pilot project, initiated as part of the “Dual High-Speed Rail Integration Roadmap” announced on December 9 last year, will see KTX trains (955 seats) departing from Suseo Station and SRT trains (410 seats) from Seoul Station, both making round trips to Busan Station once daily in each direction.

Tickets can be reserved through SR and KORAIL websites, mobile apps, and at station ticket offices. To promote the trial and enhance passenger convenience, fares will be set approximately 10% lower than usual rates, though mileage points will not be accrued during this period.

The Ministry, KORAIL, and SR have been conducting test runs since February 3 to verify operational status and facility compatibility. Throughout this trial period, they plan to reaffirm safety measures and closely monitor the entire process from ticket reservations to boarding and disembarking to ensure a smooth experience for passengers.

Kim Tae-byeong, Director of the Railway Bureau at the Ministry of Land, Infrastructure and Transport, stated, “We are committed to implementing these procedures without delay so that the public can swiftly benefit from the integrated high-speed rail service, including increased seat availability. Our top priority is to meticulously oversee and inspect all aspects to guarantee safety.”

Representatives from SR and KORAIL advised, “As the trial operation involves changes to the usual trains and booking apps, we strongly urge passengers to double-check their departure and arrival station information when making reservations and boarding trains.”
