[Sports Today reporter Song Oh-jung] The female streamer identified as A, who says she was assaulted live on air by broadcaster MC Dingdong (real name Heo Yong-un), said she is anxious as the controversy has rapidly escalated.
On the 12th, A posted on her social media that videos and photos — including footage of other streamers — are spreading without any blurring. She wrote, I wish these videos would stop circulating. My heart races and my hands tremble every time I see them.
She added, Even when I try to appear upbeat and strong, I’m still human. These clips keep being reposted on social media for views, and the hateful comments make me feel like I want to die. Please stop the hate comments and the sharing, she pleaded, describing the pain caused by malicious posts.
She also stressed that the slapping sound in the video is not from her being struck but from a microphone being thrown, and she urged people to stop spreading false information.
On the 11th, videos showing MC Dingdong allegedly assaulting A during an online broadcast began circulating across online communities. In the footage, when A mentioned MC Dingdong’s drunk-driving incident, he appears to lose control and grab her by the hair.
At the time, MC Dingdong apologized, saying, I have trauma. When the incident from two years ago was brought up, I suddenly thought of my children and reacted that way. I’m sorry, he said.
Meanwhile, A reportedly filed assault charges against MC Dingdong. She said she had not initially intended to press charges but changed her mind after seeing a text message from him that read, You were reckless, but I was reckless too.
MC Dingdong has said he views the matter very seriously and is taking necessary steps through legal counsel, including civil and criminal measures, in response to what he described as distorted or exaggerated interpretations.
