[Sports Today reporter Song O-jung] The Supreme Court has dismissed the appeal of Gujeyeok (real name Lee Jun-hee), who was accused of extorting money from mukbang creator Tzuyang (real name Park Jung-won), thereby affirming his prison sentence.
On the 12th, the legal community reported that the Supreme Court rejected Gujeyeok’s appeal on charges including extortion and upheld a three-year prison term.
Gujeyeok was indicted in 2023 on allegations that he threatened to expose Tzuyang’s private life and extorted ₩55,000,000 (about $41,250). Both the district court and the appellate court last year sentenced him to three years in prison.
His accomplice, Jujak-Gambyeolsa (real name Jeon Guk-jin), received a one-year prison term, suspended for three years, and was ordered to complete 160 hours of community service.
Meanwhile, Tzuyang filed civil damages claims seeking ₩100,000,000 (about $75,000) from Gujeyeok and ₩50,000,000 (about $37,500) from Jujak-Gambyeolsa. The court ordered Gujeyeok to pay ₩75,000,000 (about $56,250) and ordered Jujak-Gambyeolsa, jointly with Gujeyeok, to pay ₩50,000,000 (about $37,500).
