Gunpo City’s Media Center is giving residents the opportunity to borrow professional video equipment free of charge.

On the 12th, the center said it was selected for an equipment support program run by the Gyeonggi branch of the Audience Media Foundation. The center will manage 30 pieces of professional media equipment, valued at roughly 60 million KRW (about $45,000), on consignment.

The consigned gear includes DSLRs such as the Nikon D500, camcorders and tripods. The center will lend this equipment to residents free of charge from today through December.

The program will let residents produce video content using professional equipment, offer media training for the public, support production of viewer-participation programs, and provide equipment rental services for public-interest media activities.

Mayor Ha Eun-ho said, “This equipment support program makes it easier for residents to access and use professional media gear. We will back the Media Center’s efforts to increase resident participation in media production and to encourage creative activity.”

Gunpo City expects the program to lower barriers to media production and to foster more creative activity among residents.
