Oh Tae-seok Visits Small and Venture Aerospace Firms in South Gyeongsang
Promotes Private-Led Growth and Dialogue for the Aerospace Industry

On March 13, Oh Tae-seok, commissioner of the Korea Aerospace Administration, visited companies housed at the Aerospace Headquarters of Gyeongnam Technopark (Gyeongnam TP) in Sacheon, South Gyeongsang Province. He inspected corporate support infrastructure and chaired the second Aerospace SOS roundtable.
The roundtable was organized to hear directly from small firms that find it difficult to maintain in-house research or production facilities, and to identify concrete support measures that small and venture companies need to scale.
Before the discussion, Oh toured tenant offices at Gyeongnam TP and reviewed key support facilities available to local firms.
He specifically assessed the operational status of equipment that small companies usually cannot secure on their own, including prototype production support facilities, environmental testing equipment, and performance-testing facilities for aircraft components.
Gyeongnam TP’s Aerospace Headquarters now offers close, full-cycle support—from design through testing and evaluation—so regional firms can localize aerospace component production and strengthen their position in global markets.
Ten companies joined the roundtable, including Telepix, a specialist in satellite payloads and image processing, and S&K Aviation, a manufacturer of aircraft parts. Participants provided candid, frontline perspectives on industry needs.
Attendees called for measures to sustain aerospace industry growth: expanding public procurement for satellites and launch vehicles, supporting firms in building production infrastructure, and addressing shortages in satellite manufacturing and development facilities.
Oh said, “We plan to break ground by year-end on the Satellite Development Innovation Center, which is currently in the architectural design phase, and will complete it as quickly as possible so small and venture firms can access it soon. We will install shared, core facilities and equipment for satellite development and production and develop additional support programs to encourage major space companies to cluster in the Sacheon area.”
