Kim Hoe-cheon, the former CEO of Korea South-East Power, has been selected as the new president of Korea Hydro & Nuclear Power (KHNP).
On March 13, KHNP shareholders approved his appointment, the nuclear industry confirmed.
A day earlier, the Public Institution Management Committee of the Ministry of Economy and Finance reportedly named Kim as KHNP’s nominee.
After the shareholders’ approval, the remaining steps are a recommendation from the minister of the Ministry of Climate, Energy and Environment and final confirmation by the president.
Kim is a veteran of Korea Electric Power Corporation (KEPCO), where he held several senior positions, including executive vice president for management.
He served as president of Korea South-East Power from 2021 to 2024, consistently earning top grades in public enterprise performance evaluations and demonstrating notable managerial ability. In his final year in office, the company ranked first overall among 32 state-run enterprises before he stepped down.
