A man in his 50s approached a minor, offered to pay a taxi fare, attempted to abduct the victim, and has been referred to prosecutors.
Seoul’s Yangcheon Police said on March 18 they transferred the 50-year-old suspect, identified as A, to prosecutors on charges of attempted abduction of a minor.
According to police, A attempted the abduction at about 12:30 a.m. on March 12 while the minor was waiting at a bus stop in Yangcheon District.
He approached the victim offering to pay for a taxi and was arrested by officers who responded to a report.
Police sought an arrest warrant the following day, and a court granted it, citing concerns that he might flee or destroy evidence.
