An active-duty firefighter with the Chungbuk Fire Department was identified in a police sweep after allegedly soliciting prostitution.
On March 18, the Chungbuk Provincial Police Agency said it had booked Fire Sergeant A (in his 30s) without detention and is investigating him on charges of engaging in prostitution, a violation of the Act on the Punishment of Acts Relating to the Arrangement of Prostitution.
Police allege Fire Sergeant A paid for sex earlier this year at an illegal massage parlor in Heungdeok District, Cheongju.
Investigators located a record of A’s visit in the establishment’s logbook.
The visitor log, which listed roughly 20 entries, showed no other firefighting officials besides A.
The Chungbuk Fire Department said it will determine appropriate disciplinary action once the investigation concludes.
