Police arrested a man in his 40s after he violated a court-ordered restraining measure and illegally entered the home of the wife he is accused of assaulting.

The Eastern Yongin Police Department said on the 19th that officers made an on-scene arrest of A on suspicion of violating a temporary protection order under the Special Act on the Punishment of Domestic Violence.

According to authorities, A entered without permission a villa in Giheung-gu, Yongin — where his wife, identified as B, resides — at about 10 a.m. on the 18th.

At the time, a court had issued temporary measures prohibiting him from contacting B or approaching within 100 meters after he allegedly assaulted her in mid-February.

Police responded to a report from B saying she was frightened and believed her husband had returned. Officers located A inside the residence and took him into custody.

During questioning, A told investigators he had nowhere else to stay and had entered the home to sleep.

Police said they will petition the court to place A in custody under temporary measure No. 5 and will implement victim-protection steps, including providing B with a smartwatch.
