Daejeon held an appointment ceremony for the Daejeon Metropolitan Youth Participation Committee at the Daejeon Youth WeCan Center on the morning of March 21, awarding letters of appointment to 14 young people selected through an open recruitment and screening process.

The committee is a body through which young people participate directly in policymaking to advance and protect their rights. It operates under the national Youth Basic Act and a Daejeon municipal ordinance governing the committee’s composition and operation; members serve one-year terms.

The committee plans to conduct youth policy proposal workshops, host a policy proposal competition, monitor program implementation, take part in meetings and campaigns, and pursue exchanges with other regions. With members ranging from elementary through university students, officials expect the committee to generate practical policy recommendations and gather broad-based input.

Choi Yeong-suk, director of Daejeon City’s Women’s, Family and Youth Division, urged committee members to speak up with responsibility and pride as representatives of the city, and said the municipal government will maintain support and attention to ensure innovative policy ideas are reflected in city administration.
