Bucheon City Achieves Top Rating in Gyeonggi Province’s Audit Evaluation for 6th Consecutive Year

[iNews24 reporter Lee Sang-wan] Bucheon City in Gyeonggi Province announced on the 1st that it had been named the Best Institution in the province’s 2026 internal audit activity evaluation, marking its sixth straight year at the top since 2021.

Gyeonggi Province conducts an annual assessment of municipal audit departments across the region to encourage improvements and development in internal audit functions.

The evaluation separates cities with populations of 300,000 or more from other municipalities and assesses six areas across 31 indicators, including preventive auditing, promotion of proactive administration, strengthening internal audit activities, and efforts to improve audit practices.

The city was recognized for several initiatives: supporting responsible governance through its Proactive Administration Committee; conducting systematic audits focused on stronger voluntary internal controls; and improving audit quality by developing audit policies and analyzing evaluation indicators.

Bucheon has sustained strong performance in audit and integrity: it has topped Gyeonggi Province’s internal audit activity evaluation for six consecutive years, received the highest grade for six straight years in the Board of Audit and Inspection’s internal audit review, and earned a Grade 1 ranking in the Anti-Corruption and Civil Rights Commission’s public institution integrity evaluation.

Yoon Jong-hyun, Bucheon City’s audit officer, said, “Being named the Best Institution for six consecutive years reflects our audit innovations grounded in proactive administration and strengthened internal controls. We will continue improving our audit system to build a city of integrity that citizens can trust.”
