Food columnist Hwang Gyo-ik has been appointed president of the Korea Culture and Tourism Institute.

The Ministry of Culture, Sports and Tourism announced today (April 17) that it has appointed Hwang as the new president and presented him with his certificate of appointment.

The ministry said Hwang, a former reporter for the Farmers’ Newspaper, has extensive hands-on experience in cultural content, including serving as overall director of the Seoul Craft Fair and chairing the organizing committee of the Busan Food Film Festa.

The Korea Culture and Tourism Institute was established in 2002 to conduct research, surveys, and evaluations aimed at promoting the arts, cultural industries, and tourism.

Hwang will serve a three-year term as president.
