[iNews24 reporter Ahn Young-rok] Cheongju City in North Chungcheong Province will accept nominations for its Citizen Award from the 20th through May 29.

Now in its 13th year, the award accepts nominations in five categories: Community (regional development, scholarship, women’s affairs); Culture & Arts (culture, arts, literature); Sports & Education (sports, education); Industry & Economy (agriculture and fisheries, industry, labor); and Social Welfare (social welfare, community service).

Nominees must be citizens who have made significant contributions in the relevant category and, as of the announcement date, must have lived in Cheongju for at least five years or be employed at a business located in Cheongju.

Nominations may be submitted by heads of national or local government-registered institutions or civic organizations based in Cheongju, principals of middle and high schools, presidents of colleges and universities, district heads, or by a letter of endorsement signed by at least 20 citizens.

Cheongju will convene a selection committee in June to choose one recipient per category and will present the awards at the city’s Citizen’s Day ceremony in July.
