Gwacheon City announced on April 21 that it conducted pre-completion inspections of the Galhyeon-dong Administrative Welfare Center and the sports facilities beneath the Second Gyeongin Expressway, both currently under construction in the Galhyeon-dong Knowledge Information Town public housing district.

The Galhyeon-dong Administrative Welfare Center is being built to improve residents’ access to administrative services and to respond to local cultural and welfare needs. The building will have a total floor area of 3,756㎡ (about 40,429 sq ft), with one basement level and four aboveground floors. Construction began in September 2024, and the center is scheduled for completion on April 30. It will house a citizen services office, social-services counseling rooms, classrooms for cultural programs, and community space.

The sports complex under the Second Gyeongin Expressway will cover 4,925㎡ (about 53,031 sq ft) and will include facilities for gateball, futsal, jokgu (Korean foot-volleyball), basketball, and inline skating. The city plans to complete this facility on May 2.

During the pre-completion inspections, city officials reviewed construction quality and operational readiness and identified potential issues that could cause inconvenience to users.

Officials say the two facilities, once complete, will expand administrative services and community sports infrastructure in the Knowledge Information Town area, improving local residents’ living conditions.

A Gwacheon City official said, “We will address the issues found during the pre-completion inspections before the projects are finalized so residents can use the facilities safely and conveniently.”
