Translation result 장애인의 [Herald Economy=Senior Reporter Park Jong-il] Jin Gyo-hoon, mayor of Gangseo District, said on the 21st, “I will spare no effort to make Gangseo an inclusive district where people with and without disabilities join hands, open their hearts, and connect the community.”

Mayor Jin made the remarks at the 46th Disability Day ceremony held at the Gayang Sports Center, where he emphasized understanding and respecting differences rather than discrimination and called for a city that welcomes everyone.

The event, organized by the Gangseo District Federation of Disabled Organizations (Chairman Kim Yong-je), drew about 900 attendees, including Mayor Jin, Rep. Han Jeong-ae (Gangseo B, Democratic Party policy committee chair), Chairman Kim, leaders of disability organizations, and families of people with disabilities.

The program began with a pre-ceremony performance, followed by a joint entrance by Mayor Jin and Chairman Kim to symbolize their commitment to stand beside people with disabilities.

The event was held in two parts. The first included a reading of the Disability Human Rights Charter, the presentation of awards to contributors to disability welfare, and the distribution of welfare support funds. The second featured celebratory performances.

The district designated the week beginning the 18th as Disability Day week and is running a range of inclusive programs that both people with disabilities and the general public can enjoy.

On the 22nd, Hobak Night in Hwagok-dong will host “Oh! Dance Day,” a cultural event for people with developmental disabilities and care workers, and on the 24th the district will screen a film focused on the human rights of people with disabilities.

Mayor Jin said, “Disability is not a dividing line but part of our shared society. We will build a Gangseo where everyone can learn without discrimination, work as members of society, participate in community life, and be treated with respect.”
