BGF Logistics Calls Cargo Union Strike Illegal: What This Means for CU Delivery Drivers

BGF Logistics has deemed the Cargo Solidarity union’s logistics strike illegal and rejected the union’s demand to negotiate with the principal contractor. The company said a substantial share of those participating in the strike are not CU delivery drivers, and that only about 7–8% of the roughly 5,500 CU delivery drivers are members of Cargo Solidarity. It added that franchise stores have been harmed and that the strike has generated additional logistics costs in the hundreds of millions of KRW (approximately $75,000–$225,000). BGF Logistics also argued that BGF Retail, which the Cargo Solidarity identified as a negotiation target, lacks clear grounds to be considered a “user” and therefore cannot act as a bargaining party.
