Suji Library in Yongin Special City topped the nation for printed-book loans in the government’s 2026 National Public Library Statistics Survey, which covers 2025 activity.

The Ministry of Culture, Sports and Tourism reported that Suji Library recorded 850,526 printed-book loans in 2025, marking its third consecutive year as the country’s busiest lending library.

Suji Library also finished first in the surveys released for 2024 and 2025, with 879,485 and 910,884 loans, respectively.

Yongin Special City said the library again posted the highest annual loan total among the nation’s 1,328 public libraries, reinforcing its role as a central part of the city’s reading infrastructure.

Other Yongin libraries placed highly as well. Giheung Library and Sanghyeon Library ranked 13th and 17th. Dongbaek, Jukjeon, Seongbok and Seonong libraries were among the top 50, and, together with Cheongdeok, Dongcheon and Heungdeok, ten Yongin-area libraries finished inside the top 100.

City officials attributed the strong performance to policies that improved public access. They cited the Baro Loan program, which lets residents borrow books through local bookstores, and the integrated interlibrary-loan service Booki-eum as key conveniences that helped drive the increase in borrowing.
