PUBLIC TIMES—To mark Family Month in May, the Ministry of Personnel Management invited about 20 children of employees on May 4 and introduced them to their parents’ jobs and workplaces.

At the ‘2026 Employees’ Children Invitation Event,’ the children accompanied their parents to work, wore government ID badges with their photos, toured the workplaces and learned about the tasks their parents perform.

The ministry organized the event to promote a family-friendly organizational culture during Family Month.

From the security screening at the building entrance to exploring offices, the children’s day was full of wonder.

Children who took part in the “What Do Mom and Dad Do at Work?” program heard explanations about their parents’ roles as public servants serving citizens.

The ministry arranged a magic and balloon show, an eco-bag (reusable tote) workshop, and opened the minister’s and deputy minister’s offices for tours.

Director Choi called each child by name and personally placed gifts into the eco-bags they had made.

He also answered the children’s questions patiently.

Park Hee-jun, secretary of the Salary Policy Division, who attended the event, said, “I felt proud to show my child what I do at work. Spending time together with colleagues and family helped us understand one another better and brought us closer.”

Director Choi said, “I hope the event provided a warm experience for both children and employees. Going forward, we will expand family-friendly working conditions that allow work and family to coexist harmoniously, and we will continue building a positive organizational culture that staff can feel.”
