Translation result제4기 [Herald Economy = Park Jong-il, Senior Reporter] Gwangjin District held the 4th Gwangjin Youth Network appointment ceremony on May 7 in the open space on the 16th floor of the district office, formally launching a new phase of youth-driven participation in policymaking.

The Gwangjin Youth Network enables young residents to propose solutions to community issues and directly participate in the policy process. The district operates the network to ensure diverse youth perspectives inform local government decision-making and to strengthen communication and exchange among young people.

32 young committee members attended the ceremony. After receiving appointment certificates, members took part in an orientation that explained the network’s mission, planned activities, and participation guidelines.

Attendees introduced themselves, explained why they joined, and shared their goals, allowing time for informal discussion. They then organized subcommittees based on policy interests and held subgroup networking sessions. Members also recommended candidates for chair and vice chair and discussed the network’s organizational procedures.

The 4th Youth Network will be active from May through December, holding regular plenary and subcommittee meetings. Training sessions and workshops on policy development and proposal skills will be provided to deepen participants’ policy literacy.

In October, the network will stage a policy proposal competition to showcase ideas developed by youth participants. In December, it will hold a year-end meeting to review and share the network’s achievements.

The district plans to use the Youth Network to collect practical input from young people on housing, employment, culture, and welfare, and to integrate those perspectives into concrete policies and programs. It also intends to expand participation platforms to facilitate collaboration among youth and strengthen a youth-centered communication system.

“Young people’s ideas and experiences are vital assets for shaping our community’s future,” a district official said. “We will work with youth to ensure their diverse voices are reflected in local policy.”
