LX [Herald Economy reporter Je-in Kwon] LX Pantos, a global logistics firm, announced on the 20th that it has joined the UN Women’s Empowerment Principles (WEPs) and pledged its support. The company said the move is intended to foster a corporate culture that preserves diversity by advancing gender equality and empowering women.

The WEPs are an initiative launched jointly by the United Nations Global Compact (UNGC) and UN Women to advance gender equality and women’s rights. More than 12,000 companies worldwide and about 100 companies in South Korea currently participate.

The WEPs set out seven principles: ▷Build senior leadership for gender equality ▷Eliminate discrimination against women in the workplace and ensure equal opportunities ▷Ensure the health, safety, and welfare of all workers ▷Strengthen women’s workforce development and education ▷Develop supply-chain and marketing strategies that empower women ▷Coordinate local initiatives and policies to secure gender equality ▷Improve the measurement and disclosure of progress toward gender equality.

LX Pantos said it will adhere to the seven WEPs and use its membership to reinforce its standing as a leading company for gender equality.

Earlier, the company joined the United Nations Global Compact (UNGC) in 2023 and has worked to establish a sustainability management system that meets global standards and to cultivate an inclusive work environment.
