The ceremony was held at Samsung Electronics’ The UniverSE campus in Giheung, Yongin, in Gyeonggi Province. Attendees included Samsung Electronics Executive Vice Presidents Yeo Myeong-gu and Kim Hyeong-ro; Choi Seung-ho, chair of the Samsung Group Trans-Company Labor Union’s Samsung Electronics branch (the Trans-Company Union); and Kim Jae-won, director of policy planning for the National Samsung Electronics Labor Union.

Samsung Electronics and the Joint Committee reached a tentative agreement late on the night of May 20 — the day before a planned company-wide strike. In a ratification vote conducted from 2 p.m. on May 22 to 10 a.m. on May 27, union members recorded a 95.5% turnout and approved the agreement by 73.7%.
