Fatal Explosion at Hanwha Aerospace: Candidates Call for Urgent Safety Overhaul

Candidates for governor of South Chungcheong Province mourned the victims of the Hanwha Aerospace explosion and called for a swift response to the accident and measures to prevent a recurrence.

On June 1, Park Soo-hyun, the Democratic Party of Korea candidate, wrote on Facebook, \”I am devastated by the news that precious lives were lost,\” and added, \”I pray for the victims and offer my deepest condolences to their families.\”

Park said, \”There must be no more sacrifices,\” and urged authorities to concentrate all efforts on managing the aftermath while ensuring the safety of firefighters and rescue teams involved in the operation. He also expressed hope for the speedy recovery of the injured.

Kim Tae-heum, the People Power Party candidate, also posted on Facebook the same day, writing, \”My heart breaks. I solemnly pray for the repose of those who lost their lives in the sudden accident and extend my deep condolences to the bereaved families.\”

Kim added, \”I sincerely hope those who were injured recover their health quickly,\” and called for a thorough investigation into the cause and for robust measures to prevent similar tragedies from recurring.

He also extended his deepest condolences for the tragic losses and said he stands with everyone who is grieving.
