[Sports Today reporter Sangpil Lee] The LG Twins opened their exhibition slate with a decisive 11-6 win over the NC Dinos.
LG beat NC 11-6 in a 2026 Shinhan SOL Bank KBO League exhibition game at Changwon Masan Stadium on March 12.
The Twins walked away with a comfortable victory in their exhibition opener, while the Dinos dropped their first tune-up game.
Lee Jae-won and Cheon Seong-ho each recorded multi-hit efforts that included homers. Austin provided the big blow with a three-run shot, and Hong Chang-ki finished with three hits and an RBI.
Starter José Chirinos turned in a solid outing, working four innings and allowing four hits with three strikeouts, one walk and two runs. Relievers Ham Deok-ju and Jang Hyun-sik each tossed a scoreless inning.
For NC, Han Jae-hwan delivered a grand slam. Starter Taylor went just three innings, giving up three hits, striking out three, walking three and yielding two runs.
LG struck first. In the top of the first, with one out, Cheon Seong-ho battled Taylor in a 10-pitch duel before launching a solo homer to right.
NC answered in the bottom of the first. After two outs, Park Min-woo doubled and Kim Hwi-jip followed with a hit to tie the game 1-1. LG reclaimed the lead in the top of the second: two hit-by-pitches and a double steal set up runners at second and third with one out, and Lee Ju-heon’s infield grounder brought home the go-ahead run to make it 2-1.
The Twins pushed the lead further in the fourth. After one out, Song Chan-ui tripled, Lee Young-bin added an RBI single, and Lee Ju-heon followed with an RBI double for a two-run frame. With one out and runners on first and second following a walk to Lee Jae-won, Cheon Seong-ho and Hong Chang-ki each delivered hits to plate two more.
Moments later, with runners at first and third and one out, Austin crushed a three-run homer over the left-field wall to send LG sprinting ahead 9-1.
NC chipped away in the bottom of the fourth. Oh Jang-han’s double and a wild pitch put a runner at third with one out, and Seo Ho-cheol’s infield grounder produced a run. LG responded in the fifth when Lee Jae-won hit a solo homer to extend the lead to 10-2.
The Dinos mounted a late rally in the bottom of the seventh. They loaded the bases on a walk and an error with one out, and Han Jae-hwan’s grand slam ignited a comeback bid.
But LG put the game away in the top of the ninth. With the bases loaded, Lee Jae-won hit a sacrifice fly for an insurance run. The game ended with the Twins on top, 11-6.
