[Sports Today reporter Kang Tae-gu] Goyang Sono extended its winning streak to seven games with a 98-75 victory over Seoul Samsung.
Sono improved to 24-23 with the win on the 15th at Goyang Sono Arena in a 2025–2026 LG Electronics Pro Basketball regular-season home game. The result keeps them close behind fifth-place Busan KCC (24-22). Samsung fell to the bottom of the standings at 13-34.
Nathan Knight paced Sono with a 26-point, 12-rebound double-double, and veteran Lee Jung-hyun added 18 points.
Justin Gutang and Kerem Kanter combined for 39 points for Samsung, but their offense couldn’t overcome Sono’s balanced attack.
Sono came out aggressive and set the tone in the first quarter. After Knight’s dunk and a scoring surge from Kembo, Sono grabbed an early lead, and Lee hit a 3-pointer to extend the momentum. Samsung struggled to find its shot, and Sono closed the first quarter up 26-13.
Samsung mounted a response in the second quarter, feeding Kanter inside to generate paint points and drawing fouls to cut into the deficit.
Still, Knight’s scoring punctuated Sono’s offense at key moments, and the visitors held an 8-point lead at halftime, 51-43.
The game swung decisively in the third quarter. Samsung had trouble containing Sono’s defense, while Sono attacked both the paint and the perimeter. Kang Ji-hoon scored eight straight points, and Kembo produced a thunderous dunk as Sono widened the gap.
Riding that surge, Sono took an 82-58 advantage into the fourth quarter.
There was no late rally. Sono continued to score in the fourth and never relinquished control. Samsung effectively conceded, turning to players returning from injury, including Lee Won-seok. The contest ended 98-75 in favor of Sono.
Meanwhile, at the same time, Changwon LG beat Wonju DB 77-69.
The victory pushed LG to 33-15, solidifying its hold on first place. DB remained fourth at 27-20.
Assem Marei led LG with 28 points and 17 rebounds, while Carl Tamayo (19), Yoo Gi-sang (15), and Yang Jun-seok (11) also scored in double figures.
DB’s Jeong Hyo-geun had 19 points, Henry Ellenson 16 and Choi Seong-won 14, but it wasn’t enough.
