[Sports Today reporter Kang Tae-gu] Oh Hyun-kyu (Beşiktaş) was kept off the scoresheet for a third straight match, but Beşiktaş seized control after earning a man advantage and secured the win.
Beşiktaş defeated Gençlerbirliği 2-0 on March 16 (KST) at Ankara’s Eryaman Stadium in the 26th round of the 2025–26 Turkish Süper Lig.
The victory moved Beşiktaş to 14 wins, 7 draws and 5 losses (49 points), keeping them fourth in the table. Gençlerbirliği stayed 13th with 6 wins, 7 draws and 13 losses (25 points).
Starting as the team’s lone forward, Oh Hyun-kyu played 89 minutes before being substituted in the 44th minute of the second half; he did not record a goal or an assist.
Oh joined Beşiktaş from Genk (Belgium) in the winter transfer window. He scored on his debut against Alanyaspor on Feb. 9 and put together a three-game scoring streak; he also netted in Beşiktaş’s Turkish Cup (Group C, Round 4) home match on March 5.
However, he has failed to find the net in the last three league matches.
According to football statistics outlet Footmob, Oh completed 73% of his passes (11/15) across 89 minutes, had one on-target shot and won 20% of his duels (1/5).
Footmob gave him a rating of 6.4 — the lowest among the starting lineup.
Beşiktaş went up a man in the 18th minute of the first half after an opposing player was sent off, but despite sustained pressure they went into halftime level at 0-0.
The deadlock was broken in the 56th minute. Oh cut into the left side of the box and fired a left-footed shot that the goalkeeper saved, but Junior Olaitan followed up and finished with a left-footed strike to open the scoring.
Oh’s effort created the opening that proved to be the decisive play.
With the lead secured, Beşiktaş doubled their advantage in the 67th minute when Orkun Kökçü added a second, and they held on until the final whistle to claim the win.
