[Sports Today reporter Sangpil Lee] South Korea’s premier motorsports series, Superrace, is celebrating its 20th anniversary. Since its inaugural event in 2006, Superrace has grown alongside the domestic motorsports market to become the country’s only national motorsports championship and its most prestigious racing series. This season doubles as a 20th-anniversary celebration and a turning point for the series’ future direction.

The anniversary campaign emphasizes on-track competitiveness and a better fan experience. The top class will feature Korea’s leading drivers fighting for the championship. Organizers expanded on-site events and fan programs and added reserved seating and a deck zone at Everland Speedway in Yongin to improve spectator comfort. Round 3 will be held at the Korea International Circuit in Yeongam, South Jeolla Province, and will coincide with the Park Music Festival, presenting a new model that combines motorsports with a music festival. Officials also plan to strengthen race commentary and digital content to make the sport more accessible to new fans.

Over the past two decades, Superrace has helped build Korea’s motorsports ecosystem alongside manufacturers, racing teams, drivers and partners. Drawing on that operational experience, the series intends to tighten its event operations to meet international standards and to boost its global competitiveness.

Looking ahead, organizers will prioritize strengthening the development pathway for youth and junior drivers. They aim to create an internationally aligned development environment and to establish a step-by-step growth system that links karting and junior categories up to the top classes. That structure should accelerate talent discovery and, over the long term, expand opportunities for Korean drivers on the international stage.

Meanwhile, the season opener of the 2026 ONE Superrace Championship will run as a doubleheader on April 18–19 at Everland Speedway in Yongin, Gyeonggi Province.
