[MyDaily — Reporter Kim Jin-sung] Go Woo-seok (28, Erie SeaWolves, Double-A in the Detroit Tigers system) is showing he belongs at the Double-A level. The circuit is generally considered comparable to the KBO, and his strong start in an unfamiliar setting is encouraging.
On the 18th (Korean time) at UPMC Park in Erie, Pennsylvania, Go came on in relief to start the top of the sixth for Erie in a home game against the 2025 Double-A Harrisburg Senators (a Washington Nationals affiliate), with Erie trailing 0-2. He threw two scoreless innings, gave up one hit and struck out five.
Erie and Harrisburg played a doubleheader; this was the first game of the twin bill. Because it was scheduled for seven innings, Go’s two frames closed the contest. In the top of the sixth, Go struck out leadoff hitter Cotland Lawson on a swinging strike. Maxwell Romero Jr. was handed a strike after a pitch-clock violation at a 1-2 count, which produced an automatic strike and Go recorded the strikeout. He finished the inning by fanning Jonathan Thomas on a full count.
He began the seventh shakily when Siever King lined a low first pitch into center for a double. Go recovered, striking out Kayden Weller on a swing, inducing Sam Brown into a groundout to third, and getting Sam Peterson to strike out on three pitches to end the frame.
He worked two innings on 26 pitches, 18 of them strikes. Reproducing that command in Triple-A and the majors would be ideal, but it won’t be easy. For now, the sensible path is to keep pitching well in Double-A and push for a return to Triple-A. Although a direct jump from Double-A to the majors can happen, Go did not earn a call-up during his previous Triple-A stint.
There are also rumors linking Go to a return to the KBO’s LG Twins. LG placed him on voluntary release in 2024, and two years have since passed. He is currently free to terminate his agreement with Erie and sign a contract with LG to return to the KBO without procedural issues.
The real question is how committed Go is to his U.S. pursuit. Sources say he hasn’t given up and plans to push for a major-league breakthrough this year. But his Triple-A track record has been inconsistent, and a few strong outings in Double-A may not create the necessary impact. If he sticks with the U.S. route, he should expect a grind through the rest of the season.
