[Anchor] The LG Twins rode an eight-inning, shutout masterpiece from Asian-quota pitcher Wells to a third straight win. SSG pulled off a one-run comeback for the second day in a row, keyed by a go-ahead hit from captain Oh Tae-gon. Reporter Woo Jun-seong has the details. [Reporter] Spot starter Wells dominated Hanwha from the first pitch. He opened the game by striking out leadoff hitter Moon Hyun-bin and then retired the next 10 batters on routine outs. In the top of the fourth, with one out and runners on first and second, he induced a flyout from cleanup hitter Kang Baek-ho and then picked off a runner to end the inning. Wells worked eight innings on just 84 pitches, striking out seven and allowing no runs — surrendering only one hit and one walk in a near-perfect outing. 「Wells / LG Twins」 I was throwing comfortably on the mound, so honestly I wanted to go out for the ninth. Still, I’m satisfied because I did my job. LG provided run support with a two-run blast by Song Chan-ui in the bottom of the second and a run-scoring single by Moon Sung-ju in the fifth. The fourth inning produced an unusual scene when both teams requested video reviews at the same time: first-base runner Oh Ji-hwan, who was trying to reach third, was initially ruled safe, while batter Park Dong-won, running to second, was called out — officials later overturned Oh Ji-hwan’s call. Reliever Yoo Young-chan closed a scoreless ninth, and LG beat Hanwha 3-0 to notch their third straight win. SSG’s hero in the ninth was captain Oh Tae-gon. Trailing 1-2 heading into the top of the ninth, SSG manufactured a one-out, first-and-second situation after consecutive walks. Oh attacked the first pitch from Samsung closer Kim Jae-yun and ripped a two-run, go-ahead RBI single. Kim Min then shut down the bottom of the ninth, and SSG held on to beat Samsung 3-2 for a second straight one-run comeback victory. Samsung starter Hurado turned in seven strong innings and allowed one run, but his effort was overshadowed by the loss. Meanwhile, SSG’s Park Seong-han reached base with a first-inning hit, extending his consecutive-games-with-a-hit streak to a record 20 games. This is Woo Jun-seong for Yonhap News TV.
