[SPOTV News = Park Dae-hyun] Indonesian media have turned the spotlight to Megawati Putriwi (26) — widely regarded as Indonesia’s top women’s volleyball player and often compared to Kim Yeon-koung — following her return to Korea.

On the 11th, Hyundai E&C Hillstate officially announced the signing of opposite spiker Megawati Putriwi (registered name: Mega), a former member of the Indonesian national team.

Signed as an Asia-quota player, Mega fills the final piece Hyundai E&C needed as it looks to reclaim the V-League title next season after a three-year drought.

Mega is a proven power hitter.

She left a strong impression on Korean fans during two standout seasons with Daejeon Jeonggwanjang Red Sparks beginning in 2023-24.

Her ability to blast through blocks, a sharp serve and consistently high scoring output established her as a top-class right-side attacker.

Back in the V-League after a year away, Mega is expected to be a central weapon in Hyundai E&C’s offense next season.

Indonesia’s Bola wrote on the 11th (Korea time) that Mega’s move to Hyundai E&C has become a major talking point across Asian volleyball, noting the East Java native has been a standout for both club and country in recent seasons.

She arrives in Korea riding momentum from leading Jakarta Pertamina Enduro to the Indonesian Proliga title this year. Bola praised her standout form this season, saying she once again proved she ranks among Indonesia’s elite opposite hitters.

The outlet said rumors linking Mega to Hyundai E&C had been circulating for months and were widely viewed as an eventuality.

Speculation intensified after Hyundai E&C head coach Kang Sung-hyung attended the women’s Proliga final in Yogyakarta late last month.

Bola reported that Kang’s presence drew strong interest from fans in both countries, and many interpreted the visit as a sign Hyundai E&C was seriously pursuing Mega — a de facto signal of intent.

With this signing, Hyundai E&C has assembled a formidable left-right attacking tandem.

At the 2026 KOVO foreign player tryout, the club selected outside hitter Jordan Wilson (USA).

If Wilson primarily shoulders the left side, Mega is expected to trouble opponents on the opposite side, attacking both at the net and from the backcourt.

Bola noted that during her Jeonggwanjang days Korean fans nicknamed her ‘Megatron,’ and she was regarded as one of the V-League’s top foreign players. Her explosive offense, aggressive style and strong durability won over not just Jeonggwanjang fans but the broader Korean volleyball community.

The outlet praised Mega’s smooth reintegration into Korean volleyball, saying her success shows Indonesian players can compete on Asia’s top stages and opens a path for others. Bola highlighted the significance of the country’s leading female player’s second stint in Korea.
