Man City draw at Bournemouth hands Arsenal the title
After three straight seasons as runners-up, Arsenal ends a 22-year wait with the championship
Arsenal finally wiped away the sting of finishing second and clinched the Premier League title for the first time in 22 years.
Manchester City were held to a 1-1 draw by Bournemouth on May 20 (KST) at the Vitality Stadium in Round 37 of the 2025-26 Premier League season.
The draw left second-place Manchester City on 78 points, ensuring that league leaders Arsenal, on 82 points, would be champions regardless of the final day’s result.
With the title, Arsenal increased their tally of top-flight English league championships to 14, moving into third on the all-time list behind Manchester United and Liverpool, who each have 20.
After a 1-0 home win over Burnley the previous day, Arsenal were able to watch Bournemouth’s draw with City hand them the crown. It’s the club’s first Premier League title since their unbeaten 2003–04 campaign — a 22-year gap.
The triumph finally erased the disappointment of three consecutive second-place finishes. In 2022–23 and 2023–24 Arsenal led the table only to be caught and overtaken by Manchester City, and last season they finished behind Liverpool.
Arsenal again led for long stretches this season and weathered a fierce chase from City, but they held on to lift the trophy.
Manchester City had hoped a win would push the title race to the final day, but they fell behind in the 39th minute when youngster Eli Junior Krupi curled a right-footed shot into the net.
City struggled to break down Bournemouth and only drew level in stoppage time through talisman Erling Haaland, leaving them short of time to complete a comeback.
