Florian Plattenberg of Sky Sports Germany said on the 23rd (Korean time) that Fernández is one of Manchester City’s primary targets this summer.

That uncertainty has opened the door for City. With Bernardo Silva’s departure confirmed and Rodri’s situation unclear, City is planning to reinforce its midfield and has added Fernández to its shortlist.
The potential appointment of Enzo Maresca as City’s next manager is also a factor. Following Pep Guardiola’s announced resignation this summer, City plans to install Maresca as his successor; Maresca previously coached Fernández at Chelsea.
Plattenberg added that Maresca “really wants Fernández,” and that initial conversations have already taken place. The reporter described the relationship between Maresca and Fernández as very strong and built on mutual trust.
The major obstacle is the fee. Transfermarkt lists Fernández’s market value at €90 million (approximately 158.5 billion KRW, about $118.9 million), but his contract with Chelsea runs through 2032, so any deal is likely to command a premium.
