The New York Knicks have clinched a spot in the NBA Finals and are piling up eye-popping postseason numbers.

On May 25 (local time), the Knicks routed the Cleveland Cavaliers 130-93 in Game 4 of the Eastern Conference finals at Rocket Arena, sweeping the series 4-0 to advance to the NBA Finals.

It’s New York’s first trip to the Finals since 1999 — a 27-year drought. Their last championship came in 1973; a title this season would mark the franchise’s first in 53 years.

The Knicks’ run has produced so many startling marks that some analysts see their title odds at an all-time high. After falling behind 1-2 to the Atlanta Hawks in the first round, New York has rattled off 11 straight wins to secure its Finals berth.

According to The Associated Press, only the Los Angeles Lakers (1989 and 2001) and the 2017 Golden State Warriors had recorded postseason winning streaks of at least 11 games before the Knicks. The Lakers’ streaks stopped at 11 games both times, while the 2017 Warriors ran to 15 straight. If the Knicks win Game 1 of the Finals against the winner of the Oklahoma City Thunder–San Antonio Spurs series, the streak would reach 12 games, which would be the second-longest postseason run in NBA history.

During the streak, New York also posted the largest point differential over an 11-game postseason span. The Knicks outscored opponents by 262 points across those games, surpassing the 2024 Boston Celtics’ 243-point differential over 11 games. New York is averaging a 19.4-point margin this postseason, topping the previous high of 16.3 set by the 2017 Warriors; depending on how the Finals play out, that number could climb higher.

The Knicks have also compiled an unusual road streak: six consecutive road wins by double digits — the first time that has happened in NBA history, the AP reports. The previous record was five straight road wins by 10 or more points, achieved by the 2013 Miami Heat and the 2017 Warriors; both teams went on to win the NBA title that season.
