China has announced measures to tighten the education, management, and oversight of its senior military officers. State-run Xinhua News Agency reported on May 27 that the Central Military Commission issued the “Measures to Strengthen the Education, Management and Supervision of Senior Military Officers,” a document containing 26 provisions across 7 areas. The measures call for ideological rectification and political education, intensified revolutionary training for senior officers, collective leadership by party committees, and stronger oversight of key commanders. They also mandate continuous, strict supervision throughout the performance of duties and the exercise of authority. Analysts view the move as an effort to reinforce military discipline, command structures, and political control amid ongoing corruption investigations and purges within China’s armed forces.
