Lee Jae-yong, chairman of Samsung Electronics, cast his ballot on the first day of early voting.

Lee visited an early voting site at the Hannam-dong community center in Seoul’s Yongsan District on the morning of the 29th and cast his ballot.

Lee, dressed in a gray suit, completed his early vote. It is unusual for his voting to be publicized; photographers at the site reportedly spotted him while covering early voting by local candidates, including Oh Se-hoon, the People Power Party’s mayoral nominee.

A Samsung Electronics spokesperson said he was likely photographed by chance while going to vote.

After voting, Lee left without comment, according to reports.

Advance voting for the 9th nationwide local elections and National Assembly by-elections is being held at 3,571 polling stations nationwide over two days, from today through the 30th.

Polling hours run from 6 a.m. to 6 p.m. Voters must present a government-issued ID—such as a resident registration card or a driver’s license—to vote. The main election will be held on June 3.
