Juknokwon has skyrocketed to fame as a must-visit Korean destination, earning a coveted spot on CNN’s “Places to Visit in Korea” list and ranking among Korea’s top 100 tourist attractions for five consecutive years.

The lush bamboo forest boasts eight themed trails, each with its own unique charm. The main attraction, Unsu Daetong-gil, is perfect for a leisurely stroll. For those seeking tranquility, the Reflection Path offers a serene escape, while lovebirds flock to the romantically named “Love That Never Changes” path. Other trails include the Jukmagowu-gil, Seonginsan Orem-gil, Philosopher’s Path, Scholar’s Path, and various hidden gems waiting to be discovered.

During the winter months (November to February), Juknokwon welcomes visitors from 9 AM to 6 PM, with last entry at 5:30 PM. The garden is open year-round, and here’s a pro tip: entry and parking fees are waived on holidays! Summer visitors (March to October) can enjoy extended hours from 9 AM to 7 PM.

Mark your calendars! On February 17th, Lunar New Year’s Day, Damyang County is treating visitors to free admission at Juknokwon, Meta Sequoia Land, Soswaewon, and Gamagol Ecological Park.

Getting there is a breeze! Drive in via Damyang IC, or hop on an intercity bus from Gwangju Comprehensive Bus Terminal to Damyang Public Bus Terminal, then catch the 62-1 village bus for a scenic ride.

Just a stone’s throw from Juknokwon lies Gwanbang Jeerim, a man-made forest created as a natural flood barrier.

This two-kilometer stretch is a nature lover’s paradise, boasting around 180 ancient trees, including majestic zelkovas, oaks, and poplars, each over two centuries old. As night falls, the walking paths come alive with twinkling lights, creating a magical ambiance. Follow the Gwanbang Jeerim trail, and you’ll find yourself at the entrance of the breathtaking Meta Sequoia Tree-lined Road.

Fitness enthusiasts, rejoice! The flat terrain of the tree-lined path is perfect for cycling along the picturesque Yeongsan River. Rent a bike at the trail entrance – options include single, tandem, or family-sized rides.
