Unlocking the Future: How the HIS and Paradise City MOU Will Transform Japanese Tourism

Daniel Kim Views

Paradise Segasami, operator of Paradise City—Northeast Asia’s first integrated resort—announced on Feb. 27 that it had inked a deal with major Japanese travel agency HIS to boost local branding and product sales.

HIS, Japan’s top player in the independent travel (FIT) sector, boasts a global network spanning 58 countries with 293 locations. BS Global Co., Ltd., a leading domestic inbound tour operator known for driving Japan-to-Korea tourism, also joined the agreement with Paradise Segasami and HIS.

This marks the third consecutive year of collaboration between HIS and Paradise Segasami—a first for HIS with any Korean hotel group. Last October, Paradise City hosted the annual HIS World Convention, welcoming about 1,000 HIS employees from around the globe. This successful event cemented Paradise City’s reputation as a premier MICE destination and deepened the bond between the two companies.

The new agreement focuses on elevating Paradise City’s profile in Japan and enhancing its brand image. Beyond promoting room sales and other offerings, the deal brings MICE and group travel experts to the table, signaling plans to expand into corporate events and incentive tours.

The partnership also aims to create enticing packages for the soon-to-be-rebranded Hyatt Regency Incheon Paradise City, recently acquired by Paradise Segasami. Additionally, they’ll join forces to attract more Japanese visitors to Paradise City’s gaming facilities.

Kim Jaehwan, executive director of Paradise City, shared, “This third consecutive MOU with HIS underscores our commitment to engaging our core Japanese market. As we gear up to rebrand the Hyatt Regency Incheon Paradise City, this collaboration will be crucial in boosting our visibility in Japan and ensuring we deliver unparalleled experiences to our guests.”

The signing ceremony, held at HIS headquarters in Tokyo, brought together key figures including Paradise City’s executive director Kim Jaehwan and his team, HIS executives, Head Yoshino, and BS Global CEO Lee Seon-hyun.
