Back after a three-week intensive overhaul

The Sacheon Sea Cable Car, run by the Sacheon City Facilities Management Corporation, wrapped up about three weeks of scheduled inspections and major maintenance and will resume regular service on March 13.
Between Feb. 23 and March 12, crews carried out extensive work focused on passenger safety and reinforcing the facility’s stability.
The overhaul leaned on international expertise and rigorous testing.
Technicians from French manufacturer POMA joined the effort and spent two weeks repositioning the main cable — the system’s core component. That vital operation redistributes concentrated loads across sections, prolongs the cable’s lifespan, and enhances overall safety.
Afterward, the Korea Transportation Safety Authority conducted a week-long safety inspection to closely evaluate the entire system and bolster public confidence.
“Safety is our top priority,” said Chairman Han Jae-cheon. “We carry out regular inspections and preventive maintenance so riders can relax and enjoy the ride. Once operations resume, we’ll continue strict safety management to become a trusted, top-tier tourist destination in South Korea.”
From the moment you board, you’re treated to sweeping views of blue seas, charming islands, and dramatic mountain ridgelines. The Sacheon Sea Cable Car is one of the country’s standout marine cable-car experiences and continues to be a favorite for visitors to Sacheon.
