Aero K announced on the 13th that it will operate six limited-run, non-scheduled flights connecting Cheongju International Airport and Matsumoto Airport in Nagano Prefecture, Japan.

The Cheongju–Matsumoto route offers a direct link between Matsumoto in Nagano Prefecture and the Chungcheong region. The service is intended to attract travelers from Japan’s regional cities and to energize local tourism.

The airline will operate six flights between the 19th and 28th of this month, scheduled for the 19th, 20th, 22nd, 23rd, 25th and 28th. Most flights depart in the afternoon, and the flight time is roughly two hours.

Bookings are averaging over 90%, signaling solid demand. Local travel agencies in Nagano are creating Korea-focused tour packages that use Cheongju Airport, generating buzz in Japan and boosting expectations for incoming group tours.

Matsumoto, located in central Nagano Prefecture, is famed for its scenery with the Northern Japan Alps as a backdrop and for Matsumoto Castle, a designated national treasure. Nearby mountain destinations like Kamikochi make it a year-round attraction, and it has recently grown in popularity with South Korean travelers as a gateway to central Japan.

An Aero K spokesperson said, “The Cheongju–Matsumoto route is posting strong bookings and receiving a warm local response. We plan to expand inbound tourism by developing additional routes to regional Japanese airports.”
