On the 17th, the Korea Rural Community Corporation announced it will expand its \”Rural Tourism Week\” program into a year-round effort, running monthly promotions that include travel-package discounts.
According to the corporation, last year’s pilot linked discounts to 489 tour products and generated strong interest, so the program is now set to recur during the second week of every month. The agency plans to showcase discounts and events through the rural tourism portal, Welchon.
Welchon will publish fresh, seasonally tailored destination picks each month. Beginning next month, the portal will offer up to 30% off online rural experiences and lodging packages.
Rural \”workation\” packages will also receive support, with subsidies up to 50,000 KRW per day (approximately $37.50). In May, a Rural Tour Pass that bundles rural tourism products with public-transport discounts will be launched at 30% off, and in June \”Rural Crea-Tour\” packages will be offered at discounts up to 50%.
In June, the agency will host a Rural Travel Festival with rural experience villages and partner organizations to attract more visitors. An online stamp tour of 20 \”star\” villages is already underway, and a raffle will award prizes totaling 7,000,000 KRW (approximately $5,250).
They will also develop tailored travel packages for international visitors, run a global supporters program, and assist with registering offerings on global online travel agencies.
