Sunchang’s Shilland has once again been named an Excellent Wellness Tourism Destination for 2026, extending its streak of consecutive honors.
The Ministry of Culture, Sports and Tourism and the Korea Tourism Organization led the evaluation, reviewing 88 previously selected sites through document screenings and on-site inspections. Their goal was to assess offerings that span health, healing, and relaxation.
Shilland stood out for its nature-based meditation, yoga, and healing programs, as well as for creatively leveraging local resources. Reviewers also praised the site’s emphasis on true mind-and-body restoration—exactly what modern wellness travelers are looking for beyond a simple activity.
As a result of this selection, Sunchang County will receive support from the Korea Tourism Organization for promotion, product development, and consulting.
The county plans to keep strengthening its tourism appeal by enhancing wellness programs and deepening local partnerships.
