Daejeon Tourism Organization said on the afternoon of the 19th that it signed a memorandum of understanding (MOU) with the Korea Tourism Organization to collaborate on jointly attracting international conferences.

Under the agreement, the two organizations will increase information sharing to boost event marketing, split administrative and financial support, and roll out coordinated promotional campaigns.

They plan to make full use of the Korea Tourism Organization’s overseas offices and global networks to showcase Daejeon’s specialized MICE infrastructure to the world and expand the local MICE sector’s reach.

Building on close cooperation with the Korea Tourism Organization, the agency has already secured major international events, including the 2026 International Digital Humanities Federation Congress (DH), the 2027 International Commission on Large Dams annual meeting (ICOLD), and the 2027 International Symposium on Photonics and Electromagnetics (PIERS).

They also plan to work together to bring several mid- to large-scale international conferences to Daejeon through 2034, such as the 2029 International Meeting on Radiation Processing (IMRP), the 2031 Asian Poultry Congress (APPC), the 2032 International Conference on Image Processing (ICIP), and the 2034 International Heat Transfer Conference (IHTC).

Kim Yong-won, president of Daejeon Tourism Organization, said, “We will combine the Korea Tourism Organization’s global network with our regional expertise and concentrate our efforts to transform Daejeon into a world-class MICE hub.”
