Expanding history, maritime and night-view theme tours to boost local tourism
Busan’s Nam-gu Office announced on March 19 that it will operate an experiential tourism program, the UNMI Oryukdo Nam-gu Tour Bus, from March 21 through December to connect the district’s signature sights.
The one-day itinerary lets visitors explore Nam-gu’s top historical, cultural and maritime spots in a single trip. A professional guide accompanies each tour to offer background and context. Highlights include the world’s only UN Memorial Cemetery, the Oryukdo Skywalk and Somak Village in Uam-dong. The program also features maritime activities like a yacht outing, and runs from 10:00 a.m. to 5:00 p.m.
Nam-gu will also launch seasonal, themed tours. During school breaks, a Financial Road Tour will visit the Securities Museum and the Bank of Korea Currency Exhibition. In September, a night-view tour will link Uam Urban Forest, the Igidae Dongsengmal Observatory and Yongho Starlight Park. In November, a veterans’ tour will connect the UN Memorial Cemetery, Peace Park and the UN Peace Memorial Hall.
The tour bus runs mainly on weekends and public holidays. The daily tour costs 34,000 KRW (about $25.50) for adults and 29,000 KRW (about $21.75) for children. Prices include the yacht experience, a Somaki bread tasting and beverages. The themed tours are priced at up to 10,000 KRW (about $7.50) and vary by theme. Reservations can be made in advance via the Nam-gu Office and the Travel Special Forces websites.
A Nam-gu Office official said, “We hope the tour bus will showcase Nam-gu’s history, culture and maritime attractions and help energize the local economy by bringing in more visitors.”
