Cheongyang County in South Chungcheong Province has officially topped 100,000 cumulative visitors to Chilgap Tower.
The county said the milestone came roughly four months after the tower opened in November. To celebrate, officials presented the 100,000th visitor with 10 souvenir items, goji berry tea, and a Cheongyang tour pass.
The 100,000th visitor was Im Yeon-ok.
Preferring to keep other details private, she said she was thrilled to get such an unexpected stroke of luck while out with her family. “I’ll recommend Chilgap Tower and a trip to Cheongyang to others,” she added.
Chilgap Tower has quickly become a regional hotspot, featuring a skywalk and a multimedia theater that showcase the stunning scenery of Chilgap Lake.
A county official said the tower has delivered tangible economic benefits, drawing visitors from other areas and helping revitalize nearby businesses.
The county plans to extend operating hours to 9 p.m. once the nighttime lighting is completed in May.
“Surpassing 100,000 visitors proves Cheongyang’s tourism has vast potential,” a county official said. “We will complete the ongoing infrastructure expansion projects without delay.”
