Daniel Kim Views

[TourKorea = Reporter Seongran Jo] Airlines are rolling out more nonstop routes to cut the hassle of connections while also adding flights that link regional airports with major overseas cities, speeding up overall travel convenience.

Asiana launches nonstop service to Budapest — three times weekly

Asiana Airlines began its new Incheon–Budapest route today (the 3rd). The service runs three times a week (Wednesdays, Fridays and Sundays), and the airline marked the launch with a ceremony at Incheon International Airport’s Terminal 2.

The event drew Park Jong-man, head of Asiana’s passenger division; István Szerdahelyi, Hungary’s ambassador to Korea; István Medvegyi, director of the Hungarian Cultural Center; Kim Tae-seong, head of Hub Strategy at Incheon International Airport Corporation; and other officials, who highlighted the new route’s significance and potential for stronger ties with Europe.

Flights depart Incheon at 12:35 p.m. and arrive in Budapest at 6:05 p.m. local time. The return leaves Budapest at 8:00 p.m. and lands in Incheon the next day at 1:35 p.m. The service will use an A350 configured with 311 seats (28 business, 283 economy).

An Asiana Airlines official said, “This new route strengthens connectivity with major European cities. We will raise customer satisfaction through reliable operations and distinctive service.”

Jin Air launches Miyakojima and Hong Kong routes simultaneously — expanding regional departures

On the 2nd, Jin Air held launch ceremonies at Gimhae International Airport and Jeju International Airport to celebrate new services to Miyakojima and Hong Kong, and the carrier has begun regular operations on both routes.

The Busan–Miyakojima service operates twice weekly (Thursdays and Sundays), departing Gimhae Airport at 2:45 p.m. and arriving at 5:00 p.m. local time. Offering a nonstop link instead of routing through Okinawa shortens travel time and makes Miyakojima far more accessible.

The Jeju–Hong Kong route will run daily. Departing Jeju at 9:30 p.m. and arriving at 11:35 p.m., with the return leaving Hong Kong at 2:00 a.m. the next day and landing in Jeju at 6:05 a.m., the schedule is aimed at travelers who want to fly after work and maximize their time away.

A Jin Air spokesperson said, “By expanding routes out of Busan and Jeju, we’ve broadened travel options for local residents. We aim to energize regional hub airports and support tourism growth with competitive, differentiated routes.”
