Want to experience Jeju’s spring from a different angle? Try a slow tractor-drawn carriage ride across the island’s grasslands. With KRA Jeju Ranch resuming its winter-hiatus tractor-carriage tour, visitors can once again access parts of the ranch that are usually closed to the public and enjoy up-close views of Hallasan, the island’s oreums and sweeping pastures. It’s a relaxed weekend option for anyone who prefers lingering over scenery rather than rushing through a checklist of sights.
On the 11th, KRA Jeju Ranch announced the return of its tractor-carriage tour, calling it a special experience designed to leave visitors with lasting memories.
The tour seats guests in a dedicated carriage pulled by a large tractor and takes them around the ranch. Running each year from spring through fall, the program has become a go-to activity for tourists and locals who want to appreciate the ranch’s open fields and scenic vistas up close.
The biggest draw is access to areas normally off-limits. Departing from the main information center, the carriage passes the stallion grazing area, a Hallasan lookout, the yearling grazing area and the Ma-honbi (a horse memorial), before returning to the starting point. The roughly 3 km (about 1.9-mile) route takes around 30 minutes, offering a compact but immersive way to take in the ranch’s expansive views and seasonal shifts.
Highlights like the stallion grazing area and the Hallasan lookout are scenes unique to Jeju Ranch. The panorama—Hallasan and a chain of oreums stretching beyond wide-open grasslands—gives city-dwellers a calm, refreshing escape. The route is family-friendly and ideal for photographers looking for picture-perfect moments without a lot of effort.
This year’s tours run for eight months through Nov. 29, operating every Friday, Saturday and Sunday. There are three runs on Fridays and five runs each on Saturdays and Sundays. Admission is 3,000 KRW (approximately $2.25) for ages 13 and up, 2,000 KRW (approximately $1.50) for children under 13, and infants under 36 months ride free.
A Jeju Ranch official said they hope the tractor tours give visitors time to relax while fully enjoying Hallasan, Jeju’s oreums and the ranch’s pastoral grasslands. They added that the ranch will continue to offer a variety of programs using its facilities so both tourists and local residents can enjoy the space.
