The Suwon Hwaseong Taepyeongseongdae program, part of the National Heritage Agency’s World Heritage utilization initiatives, premiered last year. In 2025, reservations sold out within five minutes, sparking strong public interest, and the National Heritage Agency recognized it as a nationwide best-practice example.
This year, as Suwon kicks off its “Visit Suwon” campaign, the city aims to draw overnight visitors by pairing the World Heritage program with nighttime openings of Hwaseong Haenggung. The Haenggung Village Cooperative, made up of Haenggung-dong residents, helped plan and operate the program to ensure the World Heritage site and the local community thrive together.
The Suwon Hwaseong Taepyeongseongdae program features a Hyegyeonggung royal court tea experience held in a separate annex of Hwaseong Haenggung, plus a guided historic palace walk through the Haenggung area led by resident actors.
