Haenam County is busy beefing up safety measures and improving the visitor experience ahead of the Haenam Dinosaur Festival, set for May 2–5 at the Haenam Dinosaur Museum complex. With roughly 130,000 visitors last year, officials are planning for similarly large crowds this year.

On April 25, county officials said the festival will revolve around dinosaur-themed hands-on activities, exhibits, and live performances. The museum will offer free admission during the event, and organizers have lined up plenty of programs geared toward kids and families.

To ease congestion, the county has secured a total of 2,314 parking spaces, including temporary lots, and will run shuttle buses between Hwangsan-myeon town center and the festival grounds. Photo zones outside the venue were rearranged and the landscaping refreshed to streamline visitor flow.

Safety checks are also underway across the site — from the grassy activity lawn where booths will be set up to the Children’s Dinosaur Science Experience Center, the dinosaur track protection area, and the water play zone. Officials have inspected facility conditions and mapped out operational flow to ensure things run smoothly.

A Haenam County official said, “We’re prioritizing safety and convenience as we prepare for larger crowds, and we’ll focus on minimizing congestion and preventing accidents during the festival.”

Now in its fourth year, the Haenam Dinosaur Festival runs May 2–5 at the Haenam Dinosaur Museum in Hwangsan-myeon, Haenam County.
